Lauren Baylor's art is brought to fruition by utilising elements in mixed media; observational studies, experimental mark-making and manipulating found objects. She has worked with techniques in printmaking. photography, weaving, mural design and word construction. Themes of escapism and duality are keenly referenced in her work. She explores ideas like displacement of self and celebration in nature, indecision, opposing forces; joy/sorrow, pleasure/pain, effort/wait, up/down, soft/brittle the list goes on endlessly. Current influences include the Irish painter Philip Lindey, French artist Louise Bourgeois, the Japanese artist Cai Guo-Qiang, writer Haruki Murakami, the poet Maya Angelou and illustrator, poet, activist Michael Leunig...
